A bench headed by Justice R. Banumathi set aside the Delhi High Court’s verdict on September 30 denying bail to Chidambaram in the case.
In his petition in the Supreme Court, Chidambaram said: “His continuing incarceration is in the form of punishment as his custody can neither be taken nor is required for the purpose of investigation.”
SC had denied the congress leader bail on the basis of Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta’s submissions that two material witnesses were “approached” and told not to disclose information about him or his son.
