Indo-Kazakh ties have strong historical connections: Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliament, Kazakhstan

Date:

Nur-Sultan: The 4th meeting of the Speakers of the Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments is being held in the capital city of Nur-Sultan, Kazhakstan on the 23rd and 24th of September 2019.

The theme this year is – “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership”.

The forum is attended by parliamentary delegations from about 65 countries of Europe and Asia, representatives of 14 international parliamentary organisations, including the OSCE and CSTO parliamentary assemblies, Inter-Parliamentary Union, Asian Parliamentary Assembly, Asian Forums of Parliamentarians on Population and development, European Parliament, CICA, OIC parliamentary Union and many other important entities from the Eurasian region.

The 3rd such meeting was held in Antalya, Turkey last year.

The meeting is symbolic of the 25th anniversary of the idea of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Eurasian integration.

With all global attention on them, the diaspora will aim at finding ways to ensure the safe and stable development of the Eurasian community and to find solutions for common challenges.

With dozens of bilateral meetings and panel discussions planned, this forum will aim at collective agreement on partnership for joint issues.

The main concerns faced today are primarily centred around peace. Breach of agreements without realising the consequences is a major concern – do the countries see the risks involved that can jeopardise the entire global community.

The main aim is to be guided by the interests of the citizens. Design specific solutions especially around common issues like drug trafficking and to counter-terrorism.

They discussed that there should be a law to make a singular list of terrorists to engage countries in a joint effort to eradicate them.

The conference is aimed at finding concrete, doable solutions and to renew a community partnership with cooperation at the centre stage.

The legislature plays an important role in national politics hence parliamentary exchanges can help countries to learn from others and ask to look at common trends.

At the Media discussion, on behalf of India, the question asked by NewsMobile was Tourism is increasing between India and Kazhakstan, people in India are more aware and interested in coming here, how do you see the future of Indo-Kazhak relations growing both economically and socially and integration of the two societies, specifically in terms of trade and business? Also, with both countries closely involved in the SCO summit discussions, how do they see them coming together for a mutually beneficial sustainable future?

Answering the question, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazhakstan, Roman Vassilenko, spoke about the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and how the two countries are working hard to reinstate the historical connections that already exist. He said they have to create better conditions for exchange, transportation of goods ( to help grow business opportunities) through enhanced bilateral relations. He also mentioned the revival of the Silk Route.
