Pakistan deploys additional troopers, may have ‘secretly’ released Masood Azhar

Date:

In the latest breakthrough from intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has alerted the government that Pakistan has deployed additional Pakistani troopers along the border near Rajasthan. As per reports, it has also said that Islamabad has released Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar to carry out terror attacks in the area.

As per a quote from HT, Islamabad is planning “a big action” and has released the wanted terrorist for terror operations, according to two officials aware of the developments.

Pakistan could be planning the action in the regions of Sialkot-Jammu and Rajasthan sectors. This is being seen as a response to the government’s move to revoke Article 370 that gave Jammu and Kashmir some autonomy. As per the earlier clause, J&K was a state with special powers that prevented non-residents from buying property and getting government jobs in the state. But now, with the scrapping of the article, Pakistan has started deploying additional troops near the Rajasthan border, in a bid to retaliate.

The IB input has been conveyed to the respective Border Security Force and army field formations in Jammu and Rajasthan sectors and they have been asked to remain alert.

Earlier, on Friday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had threatened “fullest possible response” to India’s moves in Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that the global community would be responsible for any “catastrophic” aftermath, as he continued his propaganda for Kashmir. After the abrogation of Article 370, J&K has become a union territory.

The Pak PM’s comments came a day after Pakistani army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said they were prepared to “go till any extent”. Bajwa added they were ready to “give sacrifices for our Kashmiri brothers, fulfil our duty till the last bullet, last soldiers and last breath”.

But what came as the biggest shocker was the input regarding the “secret” release of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar to plan terrorist operations.

JeM had taken the responsibility for the Pulwama attack in which 40 paramilitary troopers were killed and prompted India to carry airstrikes on the group’s camp in Pakistan’s Balakot in February 2019.

In an interaction with journalists on Saturday, NSA Ajit Doval said Pakistan is trying to create trouble and some 230 terrorists have been spotted across the border.
