Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa on Monday appointed Govind Makthappa Karajol, Ashwath Narayan CN and Laxman Sangappa Savadi as the deputy chief ministers. Notably, Laxman Savadi is not an elected MLA or MLC but has been appointed as one of the deputy chief ministers.
Apart from an additional charge of the social welfare department, Deputy Chief Minister Govind Makthappa Karajol has also been allocated the Public Works Department. Ashwath Narayan CN has been allocated the department of higher education, IT and BT, and science and technology departments.

The portfolio allocation was slated to occur on Sunday, and Yediyurappa had acted as a single-person cabinet during the floods that ravaged the state. The demise of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley, made the BJP high command postpone the announcement further.
