DMK’s Kathir Anand on Friday won the Lok Sabha bye-election in Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
The election in Vellore was held on Monday. He defeated AIADMK nominee AC Shanmugham in the bypoll, which was cancelled before the national election in May this year after unaccounted cash was allegedly recovered from an office said to be that of a close associate of Anand.

With this win, the DMK has bagged 38 of 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu. It won 37 of the 38 Lok Sabha seats in the southern state, polling for which was held on April 18. While AIADMK won only one seat.
