The government has not banned alcohol; here’s the truth behind this screenshot

A screen grab of a news channel is making rounds on social media which has a still of Prime Minister Narendra Modi giving a speech and the text claims that ‘the government has banned liquor in the entire nation’.

The caption read: “आज रात से पूरे भारत में शराब बंद
जनता क्या बोलती है”

FAKE CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above post we found it to be FAKE.

On cropping out and putting the picture of PM Modi through Reverse Image Search, we found that it is from Prime Minister’s address to the nation on new year’s eve on December 31st, 2016.

In the video PM Modi didn’t mention anything about banning alcohol.

Moreover, there has been no such notification by the government over the banning alcohol across the country.

Hence, this proves that the viral screenshot of the channel is FAKE.
