After many teasers across platforms, and confirmations of a few features, OnePlus has finally unveiled the OnePlus 7 series in India. The OnePlus 7 Pro goes on sale starting May 17 for Rs 48,999, whereas the OnePlus 7 would be available in June for Rs 32,999.
OnePlus 7 Pro
The OnePlus 7 Pro has been the most anticipated device due to the hype created by OnePlus for the features and technology it offers. The first Pro device by OnePlus comes with a curved, edge-to-edge 6.67-inch QHD+ ‘Fluid AMOLED’ display which comes with HDR10+ support and a resolution of 3120*1440 pixels (516 ppi).
The display comes with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz with a default setting of 60Hz. Courtesy of the technology used in OnePlus 7 Pro’s display, the device had already received an A+ rating by DisplayMate.
Under the hood is a 7nm Octa-core Kryo CPU processor, 2.84 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with 6GB/ 8GB/ 12GB RAM options. It is purported to be 45 percent faster and consumes 20 percent lesser power than its predecessor the Snapdragon 845.
In terms of storage, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes in two variants of 128GB and 256GB with Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 3.0, becoming the first commercial smartphone to launch with the storage standard. The device comes with a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 30W WARP charging. OnePlus claims that the charging speed has been increased by 38 percent.
For optics, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup with a primary 48MP (Sony IMX586 sensor) f/1.6 sensor with OIS and EIS. The other two sensors include a 16MP 117-degree ultra-wide angle with an aperture of f/2.2 and an 8MP 3x telephoto sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. With an all-screen design, the OnePlus 7 Pro has a motorised pop-up selfie camera with a 16MP (Sony IMX471) sensor in it. OnePlus claims that the pop-up camera has a durability of over 16 years if activated 50 times a day. The pop-up camera also slides back in if the device detects an accidental drop.
Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C amongst others. The OnePlus 7 Pro has been launched in India for Rs 48,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant whereas the 8GB + 256GB variant and 12GB + 256GB variant have been priced at Rs 52,999 and Rs 57,999 respectively. It would be available in Nebula Blue, Mirror Gray, and Almond colour options.
OnePlus has thrown in some intelligent features like there’s Screen Recorder for people who want to record their screen while gaming with the audio. There’s also a Zen Mode where you won’t be able to use the phone except for making/receiving calls and taking photos for 20 minutes after which the phone will return to its normal state.
OnePlus 7
The standard OnePlus 7 comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a resolution of 1080 * 2340 pixels. OnePlus has decided to go ahead with a water-drop notch on the OnePlus 7 that houses the front camera. Like the Pro variant, the standard OnePlus 7 comes with a Snapdragon 855 SoC under the hood. It comes paired with 6GB/ 8GB RAM and 128GB/ 256GB UFS 3.0 storage on board.
In terms of camera, the OnePlus 7 has a dual camera setup with a 48MP f/1.6 primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. For selfies, the smartphone comes with a 16 MP sensor that also supports face unlock. The OnePlus 7 battery would support 20 W WARP charging.
Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C amongst others. The 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 32,999 whereas the higher end 8GB + 256GB variant has been launched for Rs 37,999.
