PM Modi, UP Mahagathbandhan face-off near Ayodhya today

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a public rally near Ayodhya while the Uttar Pradesh’s grand alliance leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati are also scheduled to hold a rally in a place close to Ayodhya.

PM Modi held a rally in the Maya Bazaar – just 25 km from the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site – wherein he hit out at the mahagathbandhan, saying it is necessary to know the reality of them.

PM Modi said, “Be it SP, BSP or Congress, it’s necessary to know their reality. Behen ji used the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar but she did everything just the opposite of his principles. SP used the name of Lohia ji but they destroyed the law & order situation in UP.”

This is the first time since coming to power in 2014 that PM Modi visited the area. Maya Bazaar falls under the neighbouring Ambedkar Nagar parliamentary seat and not the Faizabad seat.

PM Modi is also scheduled to hold rallies in Kaushambi, Itarsi and Jaipur later in the day.
