An unidentified man slapped Congress leader Hardik Patel on Friday while he was addressing a poll rally in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district.
Hardik was in the middle of his speech when a man suddenly came on the stage and slapped him. Soon after a scuffle broke out after the incident between Hardik’s supporters and the attacker. The unidentified man was later handed over to the police.

Congress candidate for the Surendranagar Lok Sabha seat, Soma Patel, was present on the dais when Hardik Patel was assaulted.
After the incident, the Congress leader filed a complaint with the police.

This incident comes a day after a shoe was hurled at BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao while he was addressing a media briefing at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Gujarat will go to polls in the third phase on April 23 for its 26 Lok Sabha seats. Results for all the 543 parliamentary constituencies will be announced on May 23.
