Union Minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday courted a controversy by saying the country will see Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the way it views a ‘thief’s wife’.
The BJP’s star campaigner also claimed that the Congress general secretary will have no impact on the outcome of Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh.
Telling reporters in Chhattisgarh’s Durg on Priyanka’s impact on the Lok Sabha poll, she said, “Nothing. Why will she have an impact… Whose husband is facing theft charges. She will be seen the way India sees a thief’s wife.”
Union Minister Uma Bharti on being asked what impact Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will have in this election: Kuchh nahi. Jiska pati chori ke aarop mein ho, usko to log kis nazar se…..chor ki patni ko kis nazar se dekha jata hai Hindustan ussi nazar se dekhega unko. pic.twitter.com/ypLpai59uf

Bharti’s comment allegedly referred to Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra who is facing allegations of money laundering.
She also targeted Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, saying by choosing to contest elections from Amethi and Wayanad, he has accepted defeat.
