Lok Sabha polls 2019: Done voting, now this is how you can spend your day

The biggest democratic event, the Lok Sabha polls have begun in full swing. The first phase of polling has begun today in 20 states and Union Territories comprising 91 parliamentary constituencies.

The states that are going to the poll in the phase I of Lok Sabha elections are: Andhra Pradesh (25 parliamentary constituencies), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Jammu and Kashmir (2), Maharashtra (7), Manipur (1), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Odisha (4), Sikkim (1), Telangana (17), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (2), Andaman (1) and Lakshadweep (1).

Once you are done voting and have the rest of the day free, here are a list of a few things you can undertake to break the monotony and utilize your day

  1. Long Weekend Just take the Friday off and make a trip out of the long weekend. Folks in Noida and the northern areas can travel up to the mountains, Himachal and Uttarakhand. The Telangana, West Bengal residence can travel towards the North East and explore the beauty of the untouched place. People residing in Maharashtra have no dearth of options as well with many hill stations like Matheran, Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar.

2. Avail special election offers and discounts Brands go all out and try and milk any opportunities to lure people with offers on days like Women’s Day, Rakhi, Holi, Diwali and so on. Lok Sabha polls are no different, hence there are many offers at your local restaurants like discounts on food, Uber had an offer earlier giving a discount on their rides, stores will have discounts and sales. Make use of you being a voter and spend a day shopping or grabbing a nice bite outside.

3. Binge Watch If you require a well-needed break, you can just Uber home and take the day off doing nothing, staring into space, sleeping or binge-watching a series on Netflix. Game of Thrones final season is just around the corner so why not do a quick recap of the last season after getting inked and prepare yourself as ‘Winter is coming.’

4. Sight-seeing/ Heritage walks in your city

Once you give your vote, you can also explore some places locally or take a guided food tour and a heritage walk. it would be a perfect day to either go mall hopping in Noida, go for a nice drive on DND or exploring the rich heritage of your states like Maharashtra and Hyderabad. You can take a stroll around Charminar, explore Golconda fort, visit Gateway of India, hike up the hills locally, go cycling, explore the greens. The guided tours help you explore hidden gems in your city and help you bond with new people.
