At least one person died and 44 others were injured on Thursday after a private bus fell into a gorge at Shalang in Kullu district.
The injured were admitted to the hospital. Each of them has got a compensation of Rs 5,000 for treatment.

Soon after the incident, 108 ambulances were rushed to the spot to shift the injured to nearby hospitals. A magisterial inquiry was ordered into the accident. Kullu SDM Anurag Chandra Sharma has been instructed to submit a report within two weeks.
Sharma said, “Action will be taken against the bus driver and operators for overloading.”
The bus was carrying 53 passengers was on its way to Kullu from Kyelang and suddenly rolled down a gorge near the Kullu-Lag area. However, the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. The administrative staff is currently on the spot and taking stock of the relief and rescue operations.
