Find out which city beat Paris as the top destination in TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards

London beat Paris as the best destination in the world in TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice awards. Intensive algorithm and analyses were used by checking reviews, ratings, and footfall in a year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide.

Rome and Crete took the third and fourth spot respectively. Shockingly New York, which is usually a tourist favourite place slipped out of top 10 list.

Hayley Coleman, the TripAdvisor spokesperson, said: ‘The global fascination with Harry and Meghan clearly has a powerful effect as this is the first time since 2016 that London has topped the world rankings. The other spots were filled by Bali in fifth spot, the Thai resort of Phuket in sixth place, Barcelona (seventh), Istanbul (eighth), Marrakech (ninth) and Dubai (tenth).

TripAdvisor has although mentioned that in case people plan to take trips to top destinations should take into account the weather and the best time to travel. The tips also included travelling and explored unseen destinations that are not frequently visited to experience with lesser crowd away from main tourist idea.
