Date:

After hosting the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup in 2017, India is now all set to host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2020.

The decision to award the rights to India was taken at the FIFA council meeting in Miami, USA on Friday.

The announcement was made by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel as he tweeted “A very proud moment and a honour that our country #India and #AIFF has been confirmed as the host of #FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2020. We will strive to make it a grand success.”

By virtue of being the hosts, India’s U-17 women’s football team will be part of the World Cup. This will be only the second time that India will play in a FIFA World Cup.
