WATCH: RaGa launches attack on government over stolen Rafale papers

Date:

New Delhi: A day after the centre told the Supreme Court that the classified papers related to Rafale Deal had been stolen, Congress President Rahul Gandhi in a special briefing on Thursday launched an attack on the government as he demanded an investigation on people named in the papers in the Rafale fighter jet deal.

“You can charge anything you want on anyone, but also press charges on the Prime Minister,” Rahul Gandhi said who has alleged corruption in the Rafale deal.

“PM Modi performed bypass surgery in Rafale deal. The purchase was delayed to benefit Anil Ambani,” Gandhi added.

“There should be an investigation on the stolen papers. But there should also be an investigation on the contents in the papers,” he said.

Attacking PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi said the files have disappeared in the same way as jobs did following the notes ban in 2016 and implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

“These days everything seems to be disappearing. Jobs for two crore youth – disappeared, the promise of Rs. 15 lakh for all citizens – disappeared, promises of right price for farm produce – disappeared, economic growth – disappeared. And now, even the Rafale files – disappeared,” Gandhi said.

Meanwhile, the government on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that the documents related to the Rafale deal have been stolen and petitioners are violating the Official Secrets Act by relying on classified documents after the court’s attention was drawn to a newspaper report.

“These documents were stolen from the Defence Ministry either by former or present employees. These are secret documents and can’t be in the public domain,” Attorney General KK Venugopal was quoted in a report as telling the court.
