Is absolutely kamaal (tongue firmly in cheek) .
This slapstick comedy is about a bunch of people in search of a hidden booty and thats what they keep doing the entire length of the movie while trying in vain to impress us with their so called funny histrionics.
Though I am not a Dhamaal series follower by any chance, this attempt at adventure comedy directed by Indra Kumar seemed slightly alluring to me because of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri who have been paired after long.
The movie boasts of a virtual parade of interesting cast ranging from Anil, Madhuri , Ajay Devgun, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra to Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Pitobhash, Ritesh Deishmukh and even Mahesh Manjrekar and Isha Gupta thrown in towards the climax. And most of them do try their level best .
Some of the gags were funny and cute , some laughable also.
But to what extent can one entertain with cliche standup comedy kind of lines ,buffoonery antics, funny face expressions and mightily contorted over the top situations … but absolutely no attempt at storyline or screenplay.
As claimed by the director and maker, they have made a movie light for the mind and heart where you walk in keeping your brains out.
Fine , we did try to do that , and did laugh bravely at the silly and innocent brainless gags but when that continued on and on without the story or script going anywhere, thats when we realised that its not funny any more.
The only thing impressive was the beginning of the movie with the introduction of the cast in a remix version of “ Paisa Ye Paisa”. Very groovy and stylish. Do not miss that in case you opt to see this one.
If the slapstick comedies are your kind of thing, Or if the star power of the movie holds any power over you Or you are a die hard Dhamaal series fan, you may try and attempt this one.
