BJP politicising Pulwama terror attack: Congress spokesperson

Date:

The Congress on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not giving the Pulwama attack its due importance. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of politicising the issue.

Accusing the prime minister of being busy shooting a film in Jim Corbett national park, Randeep Surjewala said, “When the whole country was mourning the loss of lives of our jawans in Pulwama Attack in the afternoon, PM Narendra Modi was busy shooting for a film in Jim Corbett park till evening. Is there any PM in the world like this? I have no words really.”

Citing news reports, he said that Modi was in Jim Corbett till 6.30 pm and exited from the Dhangarhi gate at 6.40 pm, having made no statement on the dastardly attacks till then.

“It has been one week since the deadly attacks on our jawans in Pulwama and neither the PM, the NSA nor the Home Minister has taken responsibility for the failure of national security and the attack on our soldiers. The govt. must answer India’s questions,” said Surjewala.

Is our intelligence so weak under NSA Ajit Doval that terrorists were able to carry 350kg of explosives through the most protected highway in the country?

How did the terrorists know the exact route of the CRPF jawans, was there an intelligence breach? If so why has no action been taken against those responsible in the intelligence agencies?

Why was request of CRPF for movement of troops by air denied by MHA? Were the CRPF Jawans not stranded for one week on account of bad weather before the convoy movement? Would air transit not have saved precious lives of our Jawans?

He also slammed the BJP government of politicising the attacks, saying “Amit Shah politicised the soldiers’ martyrdom in Assam. He said their martyrdom will not go waste as it was a BJP government in power and not Congress. Did he forget that it was Congress governments who fought wars against Pakistan?”

Reacting to PM Modi’s statement that people should not point fingers during a sensitive situation like the Pulwama attacks, Randeep Surjewala presented a video of Narendra Modi criticising the Centre government over their handling of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
