Woman trolled for breastfeeding in Kolkata

Date:

An outrage took place in a shopping mall in Kolkata after a shop manager told a customer who wanted to breastfeed her baby to do such home chores at home and not in the mall.

The woman took to Facebook in anger and commented on the mall’s Facebook page complaining that there was no designated feeding area inside.

Many other users got angry on reading the complaint as they amounted it to shaming a feeding mother.

The mall authorities also replied to the comment on the page in favour of themselves.

The first comment was posted by the allegedly shamed victim Abhilasha Arup DasAdhikari on Tuesday. The location where the incident took place was the South City Mall in Eastern Kolkata in which she wrote that there was no place to breastfeed and that the mall staff asked her to do the same in the toilet which she found disgusting.

After the comment posted by an agent of the South City Mall, the real authorities have apologised on their page and have also said that there is a feeding room on every floor of the mall and well as changing rooms.

However, the page is now flooded by shameful comments by some other new mothers and other people who read the posts. One of the mother’s also said that she faced a similar problem in the mall sometime back and that the response by Ms DasAdhikari left her speechless with anger.
