Mercedes- Benz launches third- generation CLS with a price tag of Rs 84.7 lakh

Mercedes-Benz, on Friday, launched the all- new third generation CLS 4-door coupe in India with a price tag of Rs 84.7 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS features the sleek family design with a sloping roofline, frameless doors combined with a new look from the German automaker, with new angular and aggressive- looking headlamps and a new grille design. The car sports split 5- spoke 18- inch alloy wheels in the shade of silver.

The interiors on the CLS are the typical Mercedes- Benz ones maintaining the design and quality. The dashboards is dressed in high- quality wood with a set of four jet turbine inspired AC vents right in the centre. The dash board is dominated by two large screens, one for infotainment and one for the digital dashboard, much like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in India.

The CLS houses a CLS300d version, powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre engine, churning out a maximum power of about 242 bhp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The new CLS comes mated to a 9-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that enables the car to sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6.2 seconds, before attaining a top-speed of 250 kmph.

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS will enter as a direct competition to the soon to be launched second-generation Audi A7 and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe in India.
