The film Sarkar released on Tuesday in around 3000 cinemas around the globe. In Tamil Nadu, Rs 30 crore were recovered on the first day of the release. The film stars Vijay Chandrashekhar, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, and Radha Ravi, and has been directed by AR Murugadoss.
Though the film has received a mixed response from the viewers and critics, according to them, Vijay was the only saving grace of the film.
Owing to the Diwali holiday falling in between the release of the film on the day two, there was a huge crowd at the theatres and screens ran housefull for the day. Day two of Sarkar crossed 100 crore at the box office.
In Chennai, there were 260 shows of the film across 70 screens and in Tamil Nadu, more than 650 screens ran the movie in their theatres and multiplexes.
