NASA’s podcast to Mars; take a look at the flight to the Red Planet

Date:

A new podcast from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California delivers the scenes of the recent mission to Mars.

The mission was launched in May 2018. The series follows the InSight mission as the robotic explorer journeys to Mars for a November 26 landing.

NASA launched ‘On a Mission’, an eight-episode podcast series that will follow the journey beyond Earth’s borders and its attempt to land on Mars next month. “On a Mission” is the first JPL podcast to track a mission’s flight through interviewers with Insight’s team at NASA’s California-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

If successful, the lander will be the first robotic explorer to study the planet’s “inner space” – its crust, mantle and core – in an effort to better understand the early formation of rocky planets in our inner solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars).

First two episodes of the “On a Mission” series are now available for download, the US space agency said in a statement late Tuesday. New episodes will be released weekly as InSight gets closer to Mars.

The final episode will cover what happens when the team tries to land InSight on the Red Planet. Future seasons of the podcast will focus on different missions and take listeners on new journeys through the universe.
