Mary Kom named the brand ambassador for Women’s World Championship

Olympic gold medalist has been Mary Kom named as the brand ambassador of the tenth edition of the Women’s World Championship.

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on Wednesday unveiled the logo and anthem for the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championship.

“She is not just a women’s boxing icon, not just a boxing icon, she is a sporting icon for all of India and we could not think of anyone better,” BFI president Ajay Singh said on the sidelines of the logo and anthem unveiling of the tournament.

The elite AIBA event will see the highest participation from 70 countries. Interestingly, Mary Kom, who will be seeking her sixth crown and was named ambassador of the 10th edition. She is all set to aim for the gold at home since 2006.

India hosted the World Championship tournament in 2006 and had registered the best ever haul of 8 medals, including 4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.

“This World Championship is special in a lot many ways, I would definitely give my best shot and want to live the feeling of winning gold in front of the home crowd,” she said.
