Trade between India-Kazakhstan set to grow multifold

Date:

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and India is set to grow two to three times with the transport route Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan – Iran – India significantly reducing the time of cargo delivery.

The current Kazakhstan-India trade turnover is about $ 1 billion.

A round table on the theme: ‘Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran – India. Current situation and perspectives’ will be held on October 31, 2018 in New Delhi. Event will be organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan together with the Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of India.

The main purpose of the event is to inform the Indian business community about the logistical capabilities of the Eastern branch of the ‘North-South’ transit corridor and to attract Indian business circles to the wider use of this route.

The Kazakh delegation will be represented with the management of JSC ‘Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Express’ (Kazakhstan railway express) and the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan.

The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, railways, freight traffic and the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the diplomatic corps, management of the seaports of Mumbai, Calcutta, Mudra, Chennai, the Association of Commerce and Industry of India, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Trade and Industry, Chambers of Indian Importers and others. The Indian side will be also represented by representatives of more than 50 large transport, logistics and business companies.

A number of bilateral meetings will be held during the event.

It is expected that the agreement on transport and forwarding services by rail will be signed between JSC and Indian logistics company ‘Tuberose Logistics’. The signed document will provide for concrete steps by the two sides to develop promising cooperation. It is also expected that two sides will agree on implementing a pilot supply of goods on the route Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-India until the beginning of the next year.
