Ind vs WI: MSD’s spectacular diving catch yet again proves ‘age is just a number’ for him

Date:

Pune: MS Dhoni is a classic example of the famous phrase – form is temporary, while class is permanent. The third ODI between India and West Indies was one of those days where the world got to witness the brilliance of the former Indian skipper.

After the visitors started the game strongly with 15 runs off the first five overs, ‘Captain Cool’ gave India the first breakthrough after some sensational piece of fielding in the deep to dismiss West Indies opening batsman Chandrapaul Hemraj.

The incident happened in the 5th over off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. The Indian seam bowler pitched a short ball, which clipped the top-edge of Hemraj’s bat and went high up in the air. The ball was heading into no man’s land, just when Dhoni sprinted like a tiger and dived full-stretch to pull off a stunner.

‘Mahi’ might be well in his late 30s, but he proved that age is just a number after his extraordinary fitness levels were on display enroute the catch. It goes to show that MS Dhoni might still have some years left in him, just at a time when some thought his career was over.

While the stocks of MS Dhoni maybe slowly dropping following his ouster from India’s T201 squad for the series against West Indies and Australia, the talismanic batsman’s wicketkeeping masterclass will be a slap on the faces of the selectors who doubted in his abilities.

Speaking about the selection of the squad for the upcoming T20I series, chief selector MSK Prasad said, “The T20Is here and in Australia, he [Dhoni] is not going to play, because we are also looking at a second wicketkeeper. That will be between Rishabh and Dinesh Karthik. So they will be getting a chance to keep and bat.”

Social media has been left aghast ever since it was revealed that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was dropped from the squad for his team’s upcoming T20I series against West Indies and Australia.

Mahi’s fans on Twitter have vented out their anger on the selectors following their decision to exclude Dhoni. However, MS Dhoni’s recent piece of brilliance might put a smile back, at least temporarily on the faces of many.
