Fuel prices see the first dip in 13 days

Prices of both petrol and diesel across the country witnessed a dip on Thursday, the first in 13 days. The government had cut duty on petrol and diesel on Oct 4 to provide a reprieve to the common man from the spiralling fuel prices.
After a reduction of 21 paise the petrol price in the national capital settled at Rs 82.62 per litre. In Mumbai too, the petrol price was slashed by 21 paise. It is now being retailed at Rs 88.08 per litre.

Diesel retailed at Rs 75.58 per litre in Delhi and at Rs 79.24 per litre in Mumbai, a decrease of 11 paise.

Prices in Kolkata and Chennai reduced by a similar amount. Petrol settled at Rs 84.44 per litre and Rs 85.88 per litre in Kolkata and Chennai after 22 paise cut.

The diesel in Kolkata was sold for Rs 77.43 per litre and in Chennai, it was priced at Rs 79.93 per litre.

The fuel prices remained unchanged on October 17.

The Centre had recently cut the excise duty by Rs 1.50 per litre and asked PSU oil firms to subsidise fuel by Re 1. Thereafter other states followed suit and announced a cut in fuel prices.
