McLaren revealed its upcoming successor to the legendary F1 in the form of a teaser shot that was posted in various social media.
The new ‘Hyper-GT’ is named Speedtail and will be unveiled on the company’s website at 13:00 BST (17:30 IST) on 26th October 2018.
The McLaren Speedtail is inspired from the iconic McLaren F1 and most notably its radical three-seater cockpit configuration which is basically F1’s center seating position with a passenger seat located on either side of the driver. The car will be produced in a limited number of 106 units- same as the number of the McLaren F1s produced.

The Speedtail derives its power from a petrol-electric hybrid system that would combine the McLaren 720S’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 with an electric drive system. This will lead to a power output of over 986 hp and the car is claimed to be able to exceed the McLaren F1’s top speed of 391 kmph, which set a world record in the 1990s.
The production process will take place at the end of 2019 and each buyer can personalize their car to their accord with the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) program.
The British automaker stated the new flagship will offer ‘exquisite new materials’ in the cabin, which are claimed to allow for ‘boundless tailoring’ through the MSO bespoke program.
