Two workers of the National Conference Party, Nazir Bhat and Mushtaq Wani died after the terrorists opened fire in Srinagar on Friday. Another person of a different party has been critically injured and the leaders of National Conference, Omar Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti have strongly condemned the killings.
The incident of these killings just comes two days before the polling for the first phase in Jammu and Kashmir, said the police.

The political workers have been killed were close to sitting NC lawmaker of Shameema, Jabbar Kadal. “I cannot condemn strongly enough the murderous terrorist attack against three of my party workers,” tweeted Omar Abdullah.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in a tweet said, “Pained to hear about the killing of two NC workers. My heart goes out to their families and children.”

The first phase of the local body elections will be held on October 8 and the last phase will be on October 16. The counting of the votes will take place on October 20.
