‘If Kumaraswamy can, I can be CM too,’ says Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother Akbaruddin

Date:

After the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi praised TRS’s K Chandrasekhar Rao for his decision to dissolve state Assembly on Friday, his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is floor leader of the party, made a sensational comment and put a claim on the CM’s chair. Making a direct reference to the Karnataka government, he mounted a scathing attack on Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Akbaruddin while addressing a gathering in Hyderabad said,” Our people will be successful, KCR said that elections in November and chief minister in December. To this I want to say that let elections happen in November, in December I will ask that who’s supporting us? (crowd chants) I will also ask if Kumaraswamy can, I can be CM too? But for now, my friends remember that our leaders used to say that politics was born in our house but for us let us work and they would also say that our condition is such that everyone has become a Commander-in-c=Chief, my friends being rich is different, being a leader is different, what is being rich in Islam?”.

Meanwhile, after the ruling TRS opted for a dissolution of the State Assembly at a meeting of the State Cabinet headed by CM K Chandrasekar Rao, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is all set to hold a crucial meet in NTR Bhavan at 2:30 pm on Saturday to discuss a possible alliance. There are speculations that TDP will merge with Congress party to take on the might of KCR’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the elections likely to be held by the end of this year. However, the final call of the party will be taken by the CM Chandrababu Naidu.

Earlier on Friday, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat made it clear that the dates for election in Telangana, following the dissolution of the state assembly, will not be announced as per the convenience of any party. On September 6, the first Chief Minister of Telangana state, KCR, offered his resignation to the Governor, announcing that he wants an early election in the state.
