Date:

Come September and the weather across India starts to change. Autumn excitement starts to tickle in and the anticipation for the winter season keeps the charm intact.
September is also one of the most exotic, charismatic and enigmatic months of all. Dance and music festivals, blooming flowers and flowing waterfalls mark the advent of autumn.

Here are some of the most beautiful locations in India that are a must visit during September.

Kaas plateau, Maharashtra
This is a well-kept secret in the midst of Maharashtra. Some 6hrs away from Mumbai and under 3hrs from Pune, this quaint place has thousands of beautiful coloured flowers blossoming across acres of land. Almost 850 species of different wildflowers are on display mid-September onwards. Don’t miss this gorgeous location.

Pune, Maharashtra –
Pune as a city has its own charm. A student’s haven, this place has an old-world charm which few can replicate. Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that is celebrated with much excitement and fervour in this part of the state. Visit the colourful pandals and dig into traditional food which is available across the city. An experience which will leave you craving for more.

Shillong, Meghalaya
Shillong is India’s answer to Europe. Stunning views of humongous peaks, unbelievably beautiful lakes and rivers, waterfalls that mesmerise – Shillong is replete with all this and more.
There is a lot to do here. The monsoons would have settled in towards the end of September and Shillong would be buzzing with activity. Indulge in the local Khasi food and relish the uniqueness of nature in its true colours.

Ladakh
In the last few years, this festival has gained immense popularity. People from across the country travel to see The Ladakh Festival (25–28 Sep 2018). A combination of local culture, traditional music, dance, archery contests, polo matches and a grand Ladakhi parade as the finale.

Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh
The Ziro music festival will, in times to come, become one of the most sought-after festivals in the country. Slowly but steadily, the popularity of this music event has been gaining ground. A perfect amalgamation of jazz, rap, popular music and local strings, Ziro has a lot to offer.

This mountain town is located 115km from Itanagar. Frequented not just by Indian artists but also by well-known international talent.

So this September, pack your bags and head to these beautiful locales to experience the ‘best of the best’!
