An aircraft of a private air service provider carrying 21 passengers skidded off the runway at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu injuring five passengers on board.

“The Aircraft bearing the call sign 9NAHW was carrying 21 passengers from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. It skidded off the runway at around 8:30 PM (Local Time) on Saturday,” TIA General Manager Raj Kumar Chettri told ANI.

According to the General Manager Chettri, all the passengers and the crew are safe and the five who are injured have sustained minor injuries. However, the airport is shut for maintenance of the decades-old runway which got cracks on its surface.
