Indian ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal have qualified for the quarterfinals of women’s singles.
Earlier today, Sindhu managed to keep ahead and defeated Gregoria Mariska of Indonesia by 21-12, 21-15.
In the other women’s singles match, Nehwal dominated right from the beginning of the game and displayed a range of attacking shots to leave Indonesia’s Fitriani by 21-6, 21-14 in straight sets.

Meanwhile, Indian athlete Muhammed Anas and Arokia Rajiv qualified for the men’s 400m semi-finals. High-jumper Chethan Subramanya has also qualified for the men’s high jump final.
India is now standing at the ninth position with a total medal tally of 25 – six gold, five silver and 14 bronze.
