Satya Pal Malik, the new governor of Jammu and Kashmir was sworn-in on Tuesday and took oath as the new governor on Thursday, he took the oath of office by chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Gita Mittal.

Malik was earlier the governor of Bihar and then he replaced NN Vohra as the new governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Vohra has been the governor of J&K since 2008. Malik, a former socialist leader from western Uttar Pradesh who was with the Congress in the 1980s, joined the BJP in 2004.
