A fire that broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building at Dadar area in Mumbai on Wednesday morning was doused in a couple of hours but not before it claimed 4 lives and injured 16.
“Total 16 were brought to the hospital, of which 2 were brought dead; 1 is a senior citizen lady & other is a male, condition of others stable,” dean of the KEM Hospital Dean said.
“The area around the lift of the 12th floor was the worst affected. Fire in the electrical wiring kept in duct area had caused smoke and heat on the entire floor, because of which people on upper floors were trapped,” Fire Dept official said on the fire accident in Crystal Tower.
Fire brigade officials went inside the building to search for any trapped person inside. Videos of the fire were posted on the social media by people in the vicinity.

Those who were stranded on the staircase filled with smoke were rescued and rushed to KEM hospital.

The Level 2 fire which broke out around 8:30 a.m. was later declared as a Level 4 fire. Eight fire engines and four tankers were pressed into action.
