The Union Jack flies at half-mast at the British High Commission

As a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Union Jack was flown at half-mast at the British High Commission in New Delhi.

Bharat Ratna Vajpayee breathed his last on Thursday at Delhi’s All India Institutes of Medical Sciences. He was 93.

Earlier today, the last rites of the Vajpayee were performed at Smriti Sthal. The procession with his mortal remains travelled from the the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters to the Smriti Sthal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, senior BJP leader LK Advani and other party members walked with the procession. Senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh and party president Rahul Gandhi arrived at Smriti Sthal to pay their last respects to Vajpayee.

King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Sri Lanka’s acting Foreign Minister Lakshman Kiriella and Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali are also present for the funeral.
