Former PM Vajpayee’s health worsens, leaders across party lines visit AIIMS

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s condition is worsening and he has been put on life support system, said AIIMS, where former PM is admitted, on Wednesday night.

Several ministers including Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu, BJP chief Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani visited Vajpayee in the hospital. Senior BJP leader LK Advani and daughter Pratibha Advani also visited him. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be visiting him shortly.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece said that she is wishing that she could see him give a speech for one last time.

AIIMS released another medical bulletin on Thursday morning saying his condition is the same and continues to be critical.

AIIMS on Wednesday night released medical bulletin following Vajpayee’s health.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was former Prime Minister of India and a BJP leader. He was diabetic and only had one functional kidney.  He had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
