Idris Elba stokes speculation on 007

The rumours whether Idris Elba will ever be able to say, “Bond, James Bond” has been further incited as the actor posted a cryptic message “my name’s Elba, Idris Elba” followed up with “Don’t believe the HYPE …”

The 45-year-old actor, best known for his roles in Star Trek, Luther and The Wire, has been in rumours for about seven years, that he would succeed Daniel Craig, who has played 007 in four films since 2006. But he’s never shied away from the speculation and has said he “feels like a national treasure” being associated with Bond.

Earlier, Pierce Brosnan, who played the superspy in four films in the ’90s and ’00s, said that Elba would make a good Bond.

Discussing who will or should be the next 007, it has ramped up as Craig approaches his fifth appearance as the famed Mi6 agent.

It will be the 25th film in the franchise and is scheduled for a November 2019 release.
