A video has surfaced social media in which cops are lathicharging youth who have gathered inside a government office complex.
Claims attached to the video says that “the young people in the video are unemployed youth who have been assaulted by the Uttar Pradesh police as they sat on a peaceful dharna outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence in Lucknow.
The video is absolutely real as UP cops did lathicharged youth protesters in the state, but it is not Lucknow. The incident took place on June 12, 2018, in Aligarh. And the youth who were lathicharged are the members of the Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM), a Hindutva outfit who were protesting outside the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Aligarh, demanding the arrest of a person who had allegedly assaulted one of the members of HJM.
