The young college students in Delhi can now apply for their learner’s Driving License from their college only, said transport minister Kailash Gahlot on Saturday. The minister took it to Twitter to announce the news.

Over 2 lakh students will benefit each year.

“Young and studying in Delhi? You can soon get your Learner’s Driving license from your college itself,” the tweet read. A learner’s license is valid upto six months. The initiative will help about two lakh students from various colleges, polytechnics and ITIs in Delhi, according to Gahlot.

The Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal retweeted it and called it a “big step in cutting red tape” and “reducing corruption.”
