Watch these movies, as you cool your heels for the FIFA WC final

FIFA has gripped Bollywood. While some like the Bachchans headed to Russia for the semi-finals, director Amit Sharma officially announced a movie one for the fans back home. The Ajay Devgn starrer will be based on the life of the famous football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim.

In the third installment of the football drama trilogy Goal!, Kuno Becker returns as Mexican footballer Santiago Muñez, who, along with his best friends and England national team players Charlie Braithwaite (Leo Gregory) and Liam Adams (JJ Feild), are selected for their respective national teams at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals in Germany.

This 2009, biographical sports drama is based on the ill-fated tenure of the Leeds United football manager, Brian Clough. It has been inspired by the book The Damned Utd by David Peace. The movie talks about events which happened during the tenure of Brian. The film ends with the note, “ Brian Clough remains the greatest manager the England team never had.”

7 Shaolin Soccer

A Stephen Chow movie is based on the life of five brothers, who reunite after years to bring together their martial art’s skill to play football. The brothers come together to fulfil their dead masters dream of spreading the benefits of Shaolin Kung Fu to the masses.

8 Green Street

This movie is based on the life of Matt Buckner, a Harvard drop out who, while visiting his sister in London, meets a guy who runs a football hooligan firm. It talks about the life threatening series of events that happen to members of Hooligan firms.

9  Escape to Victory

A 1981 movie based on the lives of prisoners of war and how they play football against a German team. This movie starred many professional footballers of that time. The allied prisoners of war play an exhibition match against a German team but end up finding themselves involved in a German propaganda stunt.

10 Sikandar

As the name suggests the movie is based on the life of a winner, a leader and a struggler. A 14-year old Kashmiri boy, is a football fan and his life revolves around his desire to make his foster parents happy and putting the ball in the net on the field. His struggles as a Kashmiri kid and his passion towards his game makes the movie worth watching.

11 Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal

This movie is a fiction based on the South Asian community in the UK, told through the prism of professional football. John Abrahim and Bipasha Basu starrer portrays the way Indians are treated outside their country.
