Two films on Thai Cave Rescue in the making

Date:

Hollywood is all set for big-screen adaptations of the ‘Thai Cave Rescue’, with the dramatic mission being the subject of not just one, but two competing movie makers.

After Pure Flix Entertainment had announced that they are seeking the movie rights for the Thai cave rescue operation, ‘Now You See Me 2’ director Jon M. Chu and Ivanhoe Pictures are also mulling to team up for the same, confirmed Variety.

Signalling that he was working on the project, Chu tweeted, “I refuse to let Hollywood #whitewashout the Thai Cave rescue story! No way. Not on our watch,” he wrote. “That won’t happen or we’ll give them hell. There is a beautiful story abt human beings saving other human beings. So anyone thinking abt the story better approach it right & respectfully.”

Ivanhoe and Chu recently joined forces for the upcoming romantic comedy ‘Crazy Rich Asians.’

The rescue operation, which commenced on Sunday, was carried out in three phases.
It took 11 hours to bring out four persons on the first day.

A day later, a second rescue operation by the same team of divers took only nine hours to bring out the next four boys. All eight boys were rescued by divers using guide ropes and shared oxygen tanks.

Further three boys were rescued on Tuesday. All were being treated in a Chiang Rai hospital in an isolation ward. Rest two including the coach were rescued later in the day.

The footballers, who are aged between 11 and 16 years and are members of the Wild Boars soccer team, were found by the British divers on late Monday night last week with footage showing them visibly weak and huddled on a mud mound deep inside the Tham Luang cave.
