There were plans being made some time back to make the Eiffel Tower in Paris bullet-proof and it seems that the plans are now finally being implemented that seems to be completed by this month.
A bulletproof, 10-foot high glass wall around the tower for better protection against terror attacks and the project is almost complete.
A local French newspaper reported that Paris was expected to spend around $22 million on just the wall and $320 million on renovations for tight security arrangements. However, the construction of the wall has cost the city $40 million.
The glass wall around the Eiffel Tower does not disturb the views of the tower, however, those who live in the vicinity of the monument feel that the look of the building has changed. The wall limits people’s access to the gardens which has once been the spot for tourists.
Surrounded by glass walls on two sides of the square, the other two sides will stay covered by fencing. Blocks will be built in front of the glass walls for protection against vehicle attacks. However, tourists and locals can still enjoy visiting the area at ease.
