Here’s Rajkumar Hirani’s reply to Salman Khan’s comment

Date:

Salman Khan was recently asked in a media interaction about Sanjay Dutt’s biopic ‘Sanju’ to which he replied that Sanjay Dutt should have been a part of the film in the last part or the latter half of the film.

To which Rajkumar Hirani gave an appropriate reply:

In an interview with Filmibeat, the ‘Sanju’ director said that he had in fact considered Sanjay Dutt for the final part of the film. However, he dropped the idea as it would have ruined the continuity of the film. The ‘3 Idiots’ director went on to add that the audience would feel disconnected with the film if the first half had Ranbir playing Sanjay Dutt and suddenly the latter takes over.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor who plays Sanjay Dutt, deferred with Salman Khan’s opinion. He had reportedly said that a person has never played himself in his own biopic till date. He feels that it reduces the effect of the character. Though the actor knows he will be compared to the real Dutt, he believes he has tried his best to justice to the role.

He further added that the audience should feel they are watching an artist playing the character of Baba, whether in his 40s or youth. Ranbir Kapoor also agreed that he can never be the second Sanjay Dutt, but has put in his best in ‘Sanju’ and hopes the audience enjoys it.
