This Pune doctor is going street to street to treat homeless for free

Pune: All it takes is WILL to do good for the society, Dr Abhijit Sonawane of Pune is one such example who is becoming an inspiration to all the people.

The thing he does is a quirky deed one can perform as he visits temples, mosques and almost every public place daily to treat elderly and physically challenged homeless people, who are fighting every day for survival. He also gives them free medicines during the check-ups.

“While treating these people I build a rapport with them and then try to convince them to quit begging and do some kind of work,” the doctor was quoted in a report.

Dr Sonawane told The Better India, “I graduated as a doctor in the year 1999 and decided that I no longer wanted to be dependent on my parents. I wanted to change the world. So I went door-to-door checking patients in a village. But what should have brought more value to my work, reduced it drastically”.
