The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 318.20 points higher at 34,663.11, on Thursday, while the Nifty 50 ended 83.50 points up at 10,513.85, driven by IT stocks such as Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services on the back of a weak rupee.

The rupee has weakened by more than 7% so far this year, hitting its lowest since December 2016 at 68.46 per dollar on Wednesday, but was trading marginally higher on Thursday.
US crude was down 0.3 per cent at $71.63 a barrel.
