Sensex rises 90 points, Nifty 50 crosses 10,500

Date:

Though largely unchanged on Tuesday, the 30-index benchmark Sensex closed marginally higher at 34,395.06, while the broad-based NSE Nifty 50 ended 20.35 points up at 10,548.70. This is among the longest rally seen over the last couple of years.

Gains in metal, FMCG and oil & gas helped offset losses in IT stocks. While the Met department’s ‘normal’ monsoon forecast and the World Bank’s 7.3 per cent growth prediction are positive signs for the economy, investors are focussing quarter-end and annual results, this week.
