In the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, 29 people were killed when a school bus fell into the deep cleft near Nurpur area. Several others were also injured.
Death count includes 26 school children, bus driver, and two school teachers.
Immediately after the incident, the injured was rushed to Dr. RPGMC hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 Lakhs each for the victims and ordered the magisterial probe to look into the cause of the accident immediately. He also said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is deployed at the incident site and rescue operation is underway.
CM, Jai Ram Thakur told media, “I have spoken with the Chief Secretary, Director General, and Deputy Commissioner. The NDRF is deployed. The rescue operation is underway with the help of locals. I’ve ordered a magisterial probe”.
CM further directed hospital authorities to provide the best medical treatments to the injured and ensured that the state government will provide all possible assistance to the family members of the deceased children.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor along with MLA Rakesh Pathania and Deputy Commissioner Kangra Sandeep reached the spot to supervise the rescue and relief operation.
Governor Acharya Devvrat, Transport Minister Govind Thakur and other members of the state cabinet condoled the death of school children.
Governor wrote, “It was a tragic incident in which innocent school children lost their lives.”
