FIR against Dalit leader, Jignesh Mevani in Karnataka

Date:

The district president of Bharatiya Janata Party in Chitradurg, KS Naveen, has lodged a complaint with the police against Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani here Friday. The saffron party has also filed another complaint with the Election Commission against his remarks during a press meet in Chitradurg.

The police have registered an FIR against Mevani following the complaint by the party.

According to the ANI report, “BJP’s Chitradurga district president lodges FIR against Jignesh Mevani for his speech in Chitradurga, wherein he urged youth to disrupt PM Modi’s campaign program.”

He urged the youth of Karnataka to disrupt PM Modi’s campaign in the poll- bound southern state by entering into his meetings. ‘Biggest role of Karnataka’s youth should be to enter PM’s campaign program in Bengaluru on 15th, hurl chairs in the air & disrupt it, then ask him what happened to 2 cr jobs? If he can’t answer ask him to go to Himalayas,’ Mevani told in the presser.

On the other hand, Karnataka BJP through a tweet has alleged that the Congress party is using Mevani as a proxy to incite violence during elections in the state. The Social Democratic Party of India|(SDPI) has been funding Mevani’s election campaigns and Congress is in talk with the SDPI for an alliance, claimed BJP. Many congress party leaders were often seen with the leaders of SDPI in Karnataka.

“Connect these dots, SDPI funds Mewani election campaign. Cong Chief in K’taka says he’s in talks with SDPI over alliance. Mevani lands in K’taka to instigate violence. How integrated & seamless the Congress-Tukde gang works!” tweeted BJP.

SDPI is the political wing of the radicalised Islamic extremist organisation Popular Front of India.
