This spring summer months promise to be a riot of colour, experimentation, newness and quirk. The textures are vibrant and focused to the weather conditions in mind.

Let’s have a look at what’s trending this summer of 2018.

Fringing, tufting, tassels and feathers, these are some of the trends which will make it to cushions, wall hangings, throws, rugs and accessories. Handmade ones will bring the rustic flavour back to our rooms. Get them on for the quirk add on to your set ups.

Interior designers this year have called the Gelato or the ice cream colours the biggest discovery and trend. You can even mix up paint colours to suit your tastes and match accessories.

This year it’s all about tiles, wallpaper and art. Bold geometrical designs will be the highlight.

Nature is fast becoming a widely used indoor friend. More and more people are off setting their indoor designs with plants and foliage. Place them in rooms, use hanging plants for shelves and mantelpieces and some lovely leafy beauties for bare corners and coffee/side tables.

Blue is the colour of the season. Either paint one wall to highlight or get accessories to dominate the room in indigos and royal blues. Pick different shapes in a mixture of styles.

Meaning ‘to shade’, this season you’re going to see ombre in many different ways, from fabrics to cushions, rugs to bedding, and in a painterly watercolour style on lampshades, artwork and furniture.

Last year the metallic trend started to filter through into paints and metal finishes, this year gold is the key colour.Gold has an elegance that is subtly yet shines. Get door knobs and handles, gold lamp bases and picture frames. Classic to say the least!


To recreate the tropical look, layer different coloured linen tablecloths and use darker shades for the tableware. Choose tropical leaf print cushions to add a decorative touch. Pick out vibrant pinks and blues and you’ve created a tropical paradise in your back garden.
