Music, mountains and more at the electrifying Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Music Festival 2018

Date:

Kasauli Rhythm and Blues music festival is an annual music festival held in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh at Baikunth Resort. Started by the Genesis Foundation in 2012, with a view to grow its community of donors and well-wishers for children suffering from health issues – this is the 7th year of the program.

It was started by Prema and Jyoti Sagar, who lost their child to heart disorder in 1983. Believing strongly that music is a positive and participatory force in the creation of change, the foundation invites established and upcoming artistes from India’s diverse pool of musical talent to perform here. They perform for their cause – to support critically ill, and under-privileged children suffering from Heart Disorder. Music aficionados can contribute for the cause by simply doing what they love best – listening to music!
100% of funds raised are dedicated towards treatment of critically ill children as all overhead costs are borne by the trustees.

The festival will take place on the weekend of 30th & 31st March 2018 at the Baikunth Resorts kasauli. A mecca for music enthusiasts interested in listening to a diverse pool of established and upcoming talent, the festival has delivered some of the most exceptional live performances – from the mesmerizing Usha Uthup, Shilpa Rao, Lesle Lewis, Rabbi Shergill to the flavorsome Sonam Kalra and Kutle Khan Sufi Collective amongst others in the past.

Some of the noted performers this year are –

Rabbi Shergill, a well-known Indian musician. He established the cult for music with his album Rabbi and the chart-topper song of 2005, Bullah Ki Jaana. His music has been described variously as rock, Punjabi, with a bani style melody.

Another group set to perform is ‘When Chai met toast’. They take inspiration from the lighter side of life to create music that is heart-warming, happy and smile worthy. Their music transcends age, genre and even language.

Unplugged – A collaboration between Aditya Jassi (lead singer, songwriter and guitarist), Manish Gunthey (singer and guitarist), Ashwani Verma (drums) and Abhay Sharma (saxophone), the band performs a mix of Bollywood contemporary covers and retro Hindi music, English pop, rock and contemporary music.

Sonam Kalra & The Sufi Gospel Project, is the brainchild of singer and lead vocalist Sonam Kalra. The music they produce blends together the many voices of language, religion and music to create one voice- the voice of faith.

Anshu Mor – stand-up comedian – well known ex corporate guy who left a high-flying job to follow his passion. Atypical of the boring tech geek definition, this guy is all set to make you tacky with his jokes.

The line-up for the 5th Kasauli Rhythm and Blues Festival, promises to be exciting. Lavish mountainous landscape, cool breeze, musical rendezvous’ and an absolutely electric audience – this festival isn’t the kind to be missed.
