The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is now expected release Mi Mix 2S, an upgraded version of Mi MIX 2, before the Mobile World Congress next month. Previously, the smartphone was expected to launch alongside the Mi 7 flagship at MWC in February.
The new information was revealed by a tipster, who posted on Weibo that the Chinese smartphone maker is planning to launch the Mi MIX 2S even before MWC 2018. However, the tipster didn’t reveal much information about the device, GizmoChina reported that the tipster asked the readers to guess which of the devices will be first to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 845 chipset.
Several rumours indicated that Mi 7 will be the first smartphone from Xiaomi that will have latest Snapdragon 845 SoC and the Chinese smartphone maker might keep the chipset for next-generation Mi MIX 3 to give it a competitive advantage. As of now there is no official confirmation of the existence of Mi MIX 2S and so these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.
Nevertheless, the renders of the purported Mi MIX 2S leaked online that indicated a design similar to that of iPhone X, however, it turned out to be a photoshopped version of Mi MIX 2. Later Slashleaks released a second render of the smartphone which will come bezel-less and the display will account for almost 100 percent of the front of the device.
The leaked images show that Xioami is planning to get rid of the chin that had the front camera on the Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2. The front camera would be placed at the top right-handed corner that gives rise to an awkward looking notch at the right.
In comparison with Mi MIX 2, the bottom bezel seems to be considerably thinner since the company is getting rid of that portion by moving the camera to the top. The new purported smartphone will have a back panel that shows a design similar to that of its predecessors with a single rear camera setup with 18K gold-plated ring surrounding it.
A rear fingerprint sensor and the smartphone seems to be sporting a ceramic body. Although the design, not perfect, seems to take the bezel-less design to next level but readers must know that this is not confirmed just yet. The leaks also claim that Mi MIX 2S will cost 4,000 Yuan (around Rs 40,000) whenever it becomes official.
